The fruit is known in Borneo with its native name, Bambangan A very popular fruit within its native range, where it is commonly harvested from the wild and sold in local markets. The tree is also often cultivated as a fruit crop in Borneo The plant is classified as ‘Vulnerable’ in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013).
