Dekopon Orange is a premium Japanese citrus variety popularly known for its juicy texture, rich sweetness, and easy-to-peel skin. The fruit is commercially known as “Dekopon,” while its generic scientific cultivar name is Shiranui. This unique citrus fruit is easily recognized by the large protruding bump at the stem end and its bright orange color. Dekopon fruits are carefully cultivated, often inside temperature-controlled greenhouses, to maintain superior fruit quality and sweetness. After harvesting, the fruits are stored for 20–40 days to naturally reduce citric acid levels and enhance sugar content, producing a balanced sweet flavor highly valued in the market. Only fruits with sugar levels above 13°Bx and acidity below 1.0% are officially marketed as Dekopon.

Site Selection

Thrives in subtropical/tropical climates. Prefers full sun and well-drained fertile soil.

Planting

Dig pits 1–1.5 ft deep. Mix soil with Vermicompost. Maintain 2–3 meters spacing between plants.
