Almirajo is a tree growing up to 18 metres tall. The edible fruit is highly esteemed in its native Colombia, but is little known elsewhere . The tree used to be planted as a fruit crop in Colombia and Brazil, but is rarely grown at present The fleshy aril, which completely covers the seeds, is considered a delicacy locally . The cream-coloured flesh has a sweet flavour . Site Selection

Thrives in subtropical/tropical climates. Prefers full sun and well-drained fertile soil.

Planting

Dig pits 1–1.5 ft deep. Mix soil with Vermicompost. Maintain 2–3 meters spacing between plants.
