Engkala is a small tropical fruit tree native to Indonesia and the Philippines, especially found in Borneo regions. The fruit is locally known by various names such as engkalak, engkala, pong lobon, kangkala, medang, and pengalaban. The fruit is small, round, and attractive with a bright pink to red outer skin. It is usually not eaten raw; instead, it is traditionally soaked in hot water until the outer skin softens and turns pale or white. The soft inner pulp can then be gently squeezed out and consumed. Engkala is also propagated easily by seeds and grows well in tropical climates without requiring special cultivation techniques. It is mostly grown in home gardens and wild forests and is still relatively unknown in many countries outside Indonesia and the Philippines. Botanical Name: Litsea garciae Color : Red
