Ice Cream Bean is a large, evergreen fruit tree native to the Amazon rainforest of South America. It is widely cultivated by indigenous communities for multiple uses including food, shade, timber, soil improvement, and traditional medicine. The tree can grow up to 30 meters tall and develops a broad, spreading canopy. It produces long, green pods filled with black seeds surrounded by soft, white, juicy pulp. This edible pulp is sweet and creamy in texture, giving it the popular name “Ice Cream Bean” due to its flavor resemblance to vanilla ice cream. Apart from being a fruit plant, Ice Cream Bean is also valued as an agroforestry species because it improves soil fertility through nitrogen fixation and provides excellent shade for other crops. Botanical Name: Inga edulis Color : green and white
