Longan ‘Edau’, scientifically known as Dimocarpus longan, is a premium tropical fruit variety admired for its sweet, juicy flesh and high productivity. Often called the “Dragon Eye Fruit” due to its appearance when peeled, this variety is popular among fruit growers for its quality and taste. The fruit is small and round with a light brown shell. Inside, it contains translucent, juicy pulp surrounding a shiny black seed. The flavor is sweet, aromatic, and slightly musky, similar to lychee but with a richer taste. The Edau Longan tree is a fast-growing tropical tree that thrives in warm climates like Kerala.
