The ripening process for Cosmic Charlie was very typical until the point of ripening, when colour change was slow, and it was difficult to determine ripeness. The flesh became very soft, very quickly, though the fruit never appeared fully ripe nor tasted fully ripe Subfamily: Cactoideae Cosmic Charlie Dragon Fruit is a hybrid variety that comes from Hylocereus guatemalensis and Hylocereus undatus. This variety of Dragon Fruit produces a purple-fleshed fruit with a superb grape-like flavor. These fruits are large, averaging 1 to 1.5 pounds. Internet research has said this variety to be self-fertile. However, I have found this to be different. For me, the fruit does not set on its own and needs to be hand-pollinated with another variety.
