Entawak (Artocarpus anisophyllus) is a rare evergreen mid-canopy tropical fruit tree belonging to the Moraceae (jackfruit) family. Native to Borneo and other parts of Southeast Asia, this impressive tree can grow up to 45 metres tall. It has a straight, cylindrical trunk (bole) reaching up to 90 cm in diameter, supported by spreading buttresses that can grow as high as 2.5 metres. Entawak naturally grows in undisturbed or slightly disturbed mixed dipterocarp forests at elevations up to 700 metres. It is commonly found on fertile alluvial soils near rivers and streams, but also thrives on hillsides and ridges. In secondary forests, it is often seen as a remnant species from pre-disturbance vegetation. The fruit of Entawak is highly prized for its delicious taste. The yellowish-brown, globose fruits measure around 11 cm long and 8 cm in diameter, with a spiny outer shell. Inside, the fruit contains numerous seeds surrounded by bright yellow-orange flesh that is sweet, aromatic, and best enjoyed fresh.Botanical name: Artocarpus anisophyllus,Country: Malaysia, Indonesia (Southeast Asia)
